History
In March of 1991 a group of theater enthusiasts met in the Springfield, New York home of Carolyn and George Goetz. Encouraged by the promise of the use of the new Milford Central School Auditorium, Carolyn and George hoped to start a summer theater company in the region. Their enthusiasm was contagious. By the close of this historic meeting a number of willing volunteers had joined their ranks, and an anonymous donation of $100 was in hand. The Leatherstocking Theatre Company was born.

Over the next few years, the Company persevered.  New productions of American classics and little known works were brought to life.  A variety of regional sites served as welcoming venues for productions such as: Jefferson & Adams, Harvey, Master Class, Inherit the Wind, Our Town, Master Harold and the Boys, and Proof.

In summer 2006, LTC was proud to be the artistic troupe in residence at historic Hyde Hall -- on the shores of Otsego Lake, the heart of the Leatherstocking Region.  This beautiful site set the stage for our 2006 season productions of the poignant tale, On Golden Pond and the tantalizing thriller, Sleuth.

In summer 2007, LTC was 17 years young.  At Hyde Hall, we presented Coole Lady, the reminiscences of Lady Augusta Gregory, starring Joan McCready in a tour de force.  At the Lake House on Canojaharie Lake we produced Tony Sportiello's National Pastime in association with Pierre Weideman, directed by Mary Jo Merk  and starring her fellow long-time LTC company members, Sam Goodyear, Reggie Brunson and Gary Kuch..
